Bristol, UK, 6 August, 2024: Q5D Technologies Limited has been shortlisted in two categories for the Robotics and Automation Awards 2024. Q5D has earned recognition in the “Best New or Small Company” and “Manufacturing Innovation” categories, which celebrate innovative and disruptive forces within the sector, acknowledging Q5D’s contributions to transforming traditional wiring harness production.
Q5D’s nominations are based on its CY1000, a 5-axis additive robotic manufacturing cell that automates the integration of wires, conductive tracks and electrical connectors directly onto various surfaces in complex products. This unique ‘Electrical Function Integration’ process eliminates the need for traditional wire harnesses, which rely on manual processes that make them heavy, space-consuming, and unreliable. The new technology simplifies supply chains, allowing for the onshoring of manual work without increasing costs.
Applications for the robotic manufacturing cell span various sectors, offering significant benefits for the automotive and aerospace industries by reducing weight, cutting fuel consumption, and lowering emissions. The CY1000 reduces manufacturing costs by up to 50%, enhances productivity, and promotes sustainability through efficient manufacturing processes.
Simon Baggott, Chief Marketing Officer of Q5D, commented: “Being shortlisted for these awards is a testament to the dedication and perseverance of our team and partners who have been instrumental in bringing our technology to market. Our commitment to pushing the boundaries of wiring harness automation is reflected in these recognitions, and we are honoured to be considered among the best in the industry.”
The winners of the Robotics and Automation Awards will be announced at a gala dinner on November 6, 2024, at the De Vere Grand Connaught Rooms in London.
